What We Really Love — And What That Teaches Us

What do we truly love about people????

When we think of the people closest to us, we don’t usually say:

“I love her for how she looks.”
“He always seems flawless.”

We say things like:

“She makes me feel safe.”
“He shows up, no matter what.”
“They have such a kind heart.”

We remember essence, not image.

That tells us something about how we might begin to see ourselves, too.

From Perfection to Presence...

For a long time, I thought being “good” meant being perfect — always polished, composed, high-achieving.

That belief was shaped by mentors and guides who meant well. But many of them seemed tired. Quietly overwhelmed.

They chased perfection… and still didn’t feel like enough.

Eventually, I asked myself:

What if what I was taught to chase isn’t what brings true joy?

Now, I value:

Nourishment over pressure

Intention over image

Connection over performance

A Yoga Day Reminder.....

On International Yoga Day, I reminded myself:

Yoga isn’t about perfect poses or looking a certain way.
It’s about remembering who you are.

✨ Yoga reminded me:

I am not my output.
I am my presence. My essence.

Journaling Prompt

Take a moment to reflect:

What did I used to think was important… but no longer do?

What do I value now — and how does that shape how I care for myself?

Final Thoughts....

Think of someone you love deeply.
What do you truly treasure about them?

It’s probably not how they look — it’s who they are.

Now ask yourself:

Can I see myself with that same kindness and grace?

That shift in perspective? That’s yoga, too.
